Pro's and Con's of working from home.....

Hiya Everyone, I hope you are all well.

Recently I found myself working from home for a couple of weeks - not as a blogger unfortunately - but due to technical difficulties at the office most of us were working from home.

Now initially I was really happy about this because I always thought that would be my personal goal to get to a place / job where I could just work from home because...

  • No rush hour traffic
  • No having to go out in all weathers - you know having to dig the car out when heavy snow falls is not my idea of a good time :)
  • I can relax a bit more - i.e in my PJ's...
  • I wouldn't have to battle hair, make up and outfits everyday
  • I get to spend more time with Ollie - yep he's my dog <3
  • I wouldn't have to get up early
  • I would have unlimited Coffee... mmmmmmmmmm
  • I had a kitchen where i could do actual meals :)
  • I could have music quietly playing in the background..
  • I could flutter occasionally on social media
  • Basically within reason I could do what I liked..
However my job involves a lot of data entry and telephone work, and working from home didn't turn out to be as fantastic as I always thought it would be because....

  • I feel I became lazy working from home
  • I didn't feel truly awake
  • I felt unmotivated to actually work
  • Getting up later was actually more difficult than getting up early
  • As much as i really adore Ollie it's not ideal to be on a telephone when he is barking crazy at the postman
  • coffee, food and Ollie needing to go pee were all distractions
  • Social media was the biggest distraction and i had to ban myself  - i mean what the....
  • It was lonely being home alone with no work mates around to laugh with
  • I found i worked more hours when i was at home also!
So basically what I'm trying to say is things are not always as they seem and I have to admit that it has made me think twice about the working from home dream - My hat definitely goes off to every single one of you that work from home as it must take a great deal of motivation, discipline and organisation, for me it was more stressful than being in the office :) but the thing that bothered me the most was being alone - the silence was deafening. I really missed people and interaction.

But hey that was just my experience of it. What do you guys think about working from home? Let me know in the comments below!

Catch you guys soon
