My Favourite Books

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all okay. I thought today that i would share with you some of my favourite books. I love the books mentioned in this post and i have read these more than once :) I have always been a bit of a bookworm even from a really early age, and thankfully it is something that has stayed with me.

Now i have a mixture of books ( two bookshelves full ) and a Kindle - I like many was a bit dubious of the kindle when it first came about as i loved the smell and feel of a book ( sounds a bit creepy ) but i weighed up things such as space ( as i was beginning to run out of room on my bookshelves and i don't have room to put anymore up ) when taking books on holiday less space and weight in the suitcase and also just general comfort while reading ( especially when reading big books ) so i took the book plunge and purchased the kindle and i actually love it and would recommend to everyone.

One of the best things i love about my kindle apart from getting books instantly is Kindle Unlimited for £7.99 per month you can read an unlimited amount of books kinda like an online library - it is one of my favourite features.

I would like to note that for this post only the photographs are from Google owing to the fact i have a kindle so i cannot photograph actual books - I am not a lazy blogger i promise - I usually take all my own photographs.

First up is the Monkeewrench series by P.J Tracy a mother - daughter author duet. Every single book in this series grabbed my attention from the very beginning. All thriller novels written in true cat and mouse fashion that sees two detectives Magozzi and Gino teaming up with an elite team of computer geniuses to catch dangerous killers - nothing is ever as it seems and the twists and turns in these books are amazing. There are seven books in this series so far with a new book being released August - Which i am very excited for! so the series order is as follows: Want to Play? - also titled as Monkeewrench, Live Bait, Dead Run, Snow Blind, Play to Kill - also titled as Shoot to Thrill, Two Evils - also titled Off the Grid and Cold Kill - also titled The Sixth Idea. The next book is titled Nothing Stays Buried due out 24th August. If you love a good page turner then this series is for you!

Next up we have the Harry Potter series - i don't believe i have to say much here - I'm guessing there are not many people that don't know the Harry Potter stories. However for those of you that have seen the movies but not read the books, i urge you to read the books there is so much more that they couldn't fit in the movies, so much explained. I love the books. Lastly if you have not seen the movies and you haven't read the books then still give the books a go, it's great to escape every now and again.

Ah! probably my favourite author of all time - i love these little books of horror. I hear mixed reviews about him but i love him. He is the only author that has made me feel so genuinely creeped out and nervous where the hairs on my neck and arms have prickled. He has a way of writing and conjuring up some really frightening images in your mind as you read. My favourites of his are IT, Pet Sematary and the Tommy Knockers. If you are easily spooked and kept awake at night maybe give these a miss BUT if you love to be kept on your toes then this is the author for you :)

Next up, we have James Frey I read A Million Little Pieces on recommendation from a friend and i loved it - it was one of those books that i could not put down and i just had to read the follow up My Friend Leonard. These books have made me laugh and cry. At times a heartbreaking memoir of a young man's struggle with drugs and Alcohol and his Journey through rehab. This is a very real account of the struggle he counts the worst moments. It's not a straight forward boy seeks help and gets clean, it is hard and James makes you feel hundreds of different emotions as he takes you through the highs and lows of his journey. As long as you don't mind bad language and violence then this is a really good read.

Again The Girl On The Train was also a recommendation from a friend, I connected with this book straight away as the book was based in Peterborough i have done that train journey so many times, it was so believable i could have been the girl on the train. The best thing about this book is the plot twist, i never saw it coming very cleverly written. Enjoyed it so much i read it again. So naturally when i saw that Paula had released another book titled Into The Water i just had to pick it up - I am mid way through this book so I don't know how it all ends but so far i can see it is just as great as her previous gem.

So there you have it a little post on some of my favourite reads. If you have read any of the books from this post - or if you go on to read any then let me know!

Also if you guys know of any books that i should be reading then also let me know - I am always looking for that next great book.

Doggy Icey Cream

Hello Everyone

I hope you are all ok and enjoying the Sunshine :)

Today's post is something a little different and it is how to make Dog friendly ice cream and it is so simple you won't believe it!

After all why should our four legged friends miss out on a cooling summer treat?

I need to mention that credit goes out to my best friend for this recipe - Thank you Lisa <3

All you will need is a ice cube tray (i have plastic ones but silicone ones are much easier to press out the ice cream when fininshed), some fat free or low fat Greek yogurt and some dog friendly fruit.

Below are some good choices of dog friendly fruits:

So what you want to do is take your chosen fruit and chop it up into small pieces (when using blueberries i tend to leave them whole as they are only small anyway) and pop a couple of pieces into the ice cube tray.

Next layer on some fat free Greek yogurt, add a couple more pieces of fruit, add one more layer of yogurt then top off with a piece of fruit.

Pop in the freezer for 1-2 hours and presto you have dog safe ice cream!

it is that simple - it has proved to be very popular in our house (we have 3 Shih Tzu's and a German Shepherd in our house!)

speaking of bigger dog breeds - you can also swap out the ice cube tray for ice lolly moulds ;)

of course these cold treats are human friendly too!

Enjoy the Summer Guys

Spring / Summer Primark Haul

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all doing great? So after almost 2 years i have decided to revive my blog. I got really quite ill and a lot of things got put on hold, anyways skip forward to today and i have decided now is a good time to pick things up again.

And... what better way to open things back up than with a shop around in Primark. Honestly I'm not sure whether to be proud or disappointed for only coming away with four items haha!

I think the older i get i must be learning self control when I'm out shopping - Primark had a LOT of really nice things and while i admit i wanted to buy everything i liked i picked just four favourites.

So up first is a gorgeous maxi dress, this is actually the first thing that caught my eye when i walked into the store. This maxi dress has a white shorter dress underneath, with a cross back detail and the overlay is a gorgeous light weight sheer material with a beautiful flower print. I really love this dress, absolutely my favourite purchase. This was £13 bargain!

Next up i found the cutest play-suit - just in time for this hot weather we are currently having! this too is flower print (anyone else noticing a theme here?) but more of a silky material - very cool and comfortable - it is high neck with thin straps. The thing i love most about this play-suit is the frill detail on the bottom of the 'shorts'. This was £6.

The third thing i picked up was a pair of trousers, but they remind me of something you would pop on to go to the beach? very light material and wide legs. These are sooo comfortable to wear, and i love the black and white Aztec print. These look great with a white t shirt or a white crop top and sandles. These cost £8.

The next item is a bit strange considering the gorgeous weather we are having right now but i really liked it and it will be great when the weather turns cooler and that is the brightest pink cropped hoodie i have ever seen - but i love bright colours so it was meant for me. The Paradise logo on the front reminds me of something from the 80's i love it! The hoodie is just so soft - this will be a comfy wear in cooler times. This cost £6.

The final clothing piece i picked up was a night shirt - i love sleeping in these, they are sooo comfy - nice to lounge round the house in too! i am gaining a collection of these - i love pink it's my favourite colour and it looks so cute with the different grey colours. This was £8.

My last purchase from Primark was a couple of make up bits. All my brushes are real techniques but i saw these and i was curious to what they would be like. The thing i liked about the brushes are that they are double ended. I picked up an eyebrow angled brush which is double ended with a spoolie, which i didn't have and it has made applying eyebrows so much easier. This brush is really good quality considering it was only £1, does exactly what it is supposed to. I'm impressed.

The second brush i picked up was a eye shadow blending / crease brush also £1.50, and i really wanted this to be good as i don't have a decent blending brush for eye shadow and unfortunately this was not what i was looking for, this brush would be great for packing colour into the eyelid but not for blending as i feel the bristles are too hard, so i was a little disappointed with this. So if any of you can recommend a good crease blending brush that would be awesome :)

The final Primark product was a two pack of beauty blenders. also £1.50. Beauty blenders are the one tool i have never been able to get to grips with, I have tried them before but i have found that they didn't blend my foundation properly and left my make up looking blotchy? (anyone else? no? just me then) However i have seen a favourite YouTuber of mine using them and she dampens the beauty blender first - so off i went - and i have to say it has taken some practice and a few attempts but i think i am starting to master the beauty blender finally. These seem to be working fine - and again for £1.50 i am really impressed. I will see over time how long they last.

So there we have it my first post back and i have to admit it feels great. I did toy with deleting all my previous content and start again completely new, but as i was looking back over the posts i saw history and i saw mistakes, and the photographs were awful (cringe) but nobody's blog is perfect from the get go, so i decided to leave everything where it is - at least i will be able to see progress and change.

Please leave a comment if you liked this post and let me know how you are doing :)

Until next time

Rimmel Foundations...

Hello Everyone, Hope you are all having a great day.

So i have come to that dreaded time where i was running out of my beloved No7 foundation and pacing the aisles of boots thinking about whether i can justify £15 for a foundation... yes i will say it...poor student. I love my No7 without a doubt but i am trying to make my money go further...

As Boots the wonderful store that it is, is currently offering 3 for 2 across the store i came across Rimmel and at around £7 each i worked out that i could get 2 foundations and a BB cream for the price of one No7 foundation so it was a no brainer really.

So i came out with...

Rimmel Perfect Match Foundation (Ivory): ok so this may not have been a complete accident it is a classic excuse of the blogger made me buy it... I have seen so many of my favourite blogger / vloggers rave about this foundation i thought i would give it a go, and now i understand why. This foundation is seamless, doesn't go cakey or streaky blends and builds like a dream for custom coverage a really lovely light foundation and the colour match is pretty awesome for my skin tone. I will note that i have really oily skin so i do powder with this foundation and i also use a primer to stop my make up melting off.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (Ivory): I picked this up to take advantage of the three for two offer, and i was intrigued by the wake me up statement as i have uneven skin tone in places, hardly any spots and dark circles under my eyes..my eye circles are the pain of my life i always look tired even when i have add sleep! Anyway enough of my ramblings.. Using this foundation it gives a radiant glow and it seems to make me eye area less tired it conceals my dark circles when i build the foundation, so i will give this a thumbs up.

Rimmel Matte BB Cream (light): This i have used before and i do love it! its not high coverage as it is a BB cream but this is great at evening out skin tone and adding light coverage, I use this if i have to hop to the shops quickly instead of going the whole hog, and i tend to use this in the summer during hot weather as i find foundation too heavy and it slides off in the heat but a BB cream is nice and light and doesn't tend to suffocate the skin, I also wear this under a foundation as a primer to provide extra coverage when i need it :)

What do you guys think about the Rimmel face products? Let me know in the comments below.

Swinging by with an update

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all okay.

You may have noticed as of late content is lacking and for this i apologise, just got a lot going on right now with work and trying to balance my life out in general.

Not that i want this to be a 'poor me' post because on the contrary the things happening are really quite exciting for me, it is just leaving me with little time to post.

I had a mad few days of do I get rid of my blog or do i keep it?

Then i remembered why i started my blog in the first place and it was for hobby purposes, nothing more, nothing less I have been fortunate to meet some really lovely fellow bloggers on the way which have become friends :)

So what I have decided is to be realistic and fit my blog into my new routine, This may mean i blog once a week or once a fortnight - putting too much pressure on myself and even doing a little internal comparing my blog to others which i am guilty of and not something i would recommend.

I felt like the last couple of posts were forced and it was starting to feel like a job and something i HAD to do rather than a hobby and something i wanted to do.

So expect to see some changes around here - I am currently browsing Pipdig as i feel a new layout coming on, I want to step up on the photograph scale as i feel this is something to work on, and yes content i want it to be better and about things i feel genuine excitement for.

I may appear to be quiet but i feel like i need to step back in order to make these changes so bear with me and hopefully i can put these changes into practice soon.

I'm absolutely positive i am not the only blogger out there to hit one of these walls.

Catch up with you guys soon

Emz xoxo

My first Glossybox....

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well...

IT'S ALMOST FRIDAY! :) This week sure has been a busy one.. I think i am due a lazy pampered up weekend at home instead of rushing around..

Which would mean that my first Glossy Box has just come in time.
I have never done the beauty box thing before but i decided to give it a try, and after researching and putting Google through it's paces i settled on Glossy Box and I am very glad I did.

Firstly I will say that the Glossy Box ladies are lovely over on Twitter very friendly and welcoming :) You can follow them @GlossyboxUK

I have to admit I was very impressed with my first GlossyBox I thought the packaging and the way it was all wrapped up was just beautiful - I felt like someone had sent me a birthday gift. It is much better than I was expecting to be honest and considering the subscription is £10 per month only i thought the products inside were an absolute steal!

I honestly don't know why i didn't do this sooner because I LOVE surprise gifts and not knowing what's inside. I will admit I have avoided other bloggers posts on this GlossyBox because i didn't want to ruin my own surprise :)

I have also decided that the Box itself is far too beautiful to just throw away so they will become my new Make up storage containers.

So inside the box we have right on top a welcome card, explaining what to expect from GlossyBox - Now on the card it does state 5 miniature gifts BUT in this September box all 5 gifts were full sized which makes it all the more incredible.

Next we have an information card, which says a little about each product which I love - especially if it is a new brand for me it's always good to have a little background info - I feel this is a very nice touch.

There is also an October sneak peak and there is a full sized tube of photo-hydra day cream worth £25 in next months box so i guess not all products are Mini's :)

I am already by the way very impressed so far and then I unfold an envelope which happens to be an invite to Best Secret which is a fashion for members only website with insane discounts on all designer clothes and accessories and they have also given £15 to new joiners. So that alone has a serious wow factor for me.. I have my eye on a gorgeous Michael Kors Watch.. with 43% off and a further £15 I have got a bargain there!

Right so added to all of that excitement let's take a look at the goodies inside - Please bare in mind guys that i haven't tried any of the products out yet - this is a first impressions take - once i have tried the products i will do a follow up post in full review.

So inside we have..

Maria Nila Luminous Color Hair Masque - This is usually £18.95 available from Here. Description says " packed with nourishing, strengthening and protecting ingredients that enhance both colored and natural hair." This product is vegan as well as sulphate and paraben free. I took the lid off this conditioner and it has another little plastic lid keeping the conditioner in the jar - I love this because i really hate it when a tub gets moved around or put upside down and the product ends up in the lid and when you open it the product drips everywhere. Is that just me?
So the Conditioner itself is a good thick consistency not runny at all it's exactly how a hair masque should look and it smells really lovely - like pomegranates so it has a real fruity scent :) The conditioner itself feels smooth and light on the fingers - I am really excited to try this out.

Invisibobble - Personally I think this is a genius idea.. they remind me of telephone cables :') but seriously i saw on the little box "no tangles, no headaches, no split ends" I was sold at the no headaches part.. Come on ladies who else gets that headache when we wear high pony tales? So I am interested on if this works and apparently because of the spring like bobble the way the hair wraps around means it becomes invisible - I think i will try this out tomorrow at work.. These are usually £4 from topshop.

B. Cosmetics - Sculpted contour kit - I had a little giggle to myself when i saw this just because last night i was in the #bbloggers chat on twitter and i got into a conversation on contouring and that i had not tried it yet and so this turns up.. so i guess i can try it now :) Now i use highlighter a lot already and i feel at ease with this so far as the contour shade isn't as dark as i had expected - so i will be looking forward to this.

Bellapierre - Shimmer Powder - I was over the moon to see this shimmer eye shadow as i love these to death! it is shimmer and not full on glitter so you could use a little in the day time or build it up for night time party use. In the container it does look black and very dark but i did try some out on the back of my hand and it comes out into a beautiful silver shimmer - The photograph below does not do it justice at all - I have a feeling i will be rockin this shadow this A / W. Available from www.bellapierre.co.uk for £12.99

And last but definitely not least...

Marsk - eye shadow brush pro - And the wonderful people at GlossyBox even provided me with a brush to apply the shadow with. This is a nice brush - I love my Real Techniques brushes but the bristles on this Marsk one are soft but firm, I have a feeling this will blend eye shadows like a pro!
Available from www.marsk.co.uk £16.70.

So there you have it my first experience of GlossyBox and i can tell you I am extremely happy with my first Box and my subscription will definitely be continuing :)

As always let me know your thoughts in the comments below :)

Happy Friday Eve Everybody
